Georgina Starr:
 The Bunny Lakes Collection

Op eindeloze tochten over het internet beland ik - met mijn tot nu toe onopgeloste voorliefde voor duistere en lugubere zaken - telkens weer bij de foto van een bloederige perfomance van Georgina Starr. Het werk was vorig jaar te zien in het Engelse paviljoen op de 49e Biennale van Venetië en is gebaseerd op de film 'Bunny Lake is Missing' (1965) van Otto Preminger:

"Focusing principally on the character of Bunny Lake, Starr created a collection of clothes inspired by her. A number of girls, chosen to represent clones of an adolescent Bunny, paraded up and down a catwalk showing off the garments. (...) Small traces left by a sack worn as a hat or deep red, heavily made-up eyes that — as signs of a lost adolescence - seem to be a prelude to the end of the performance."
