Als notoir Tracey-Emin-watcher miste ik toch maar mooi het grote nieuws over Emin's eerste echte speelfilm, die volgende maand op het London Film Festival in première gaat. De film Top Spot - genoemd naar een discotheek uit Emin's jeugd "but the term also has sexual connotations" - die Emin samen met regisseur Michael Winterbottom maakte speelt zich af in haar geboorteplaats Margate en is als vanouds voor een groot deel autobiografisch:

"Drawing on her experiences of growing up in Margate, the film features six teenage girls - Frances, Helen, Katie, Kieri, Laura and Lizzie - who all have a story to tell. One moment filled with bravado, the next awkward and insecure, the girls' stories capture the essence of being a teenager, resonating with our own remembered experiences."
