Over tot de orde van de dag en in de categorie toepasselijke berichten - een traditie in Tate Britain, en inmiddels ook op deze website, is de jaarlijkse kunstkerstboom die in de centrale hal van het museum opgetuigd wordt. Dit jaar werd hij bedacht door enfant terrible Sarah Lucas, die er een soort van, tja, wat is het eigenlijk, in de takken hing:

"The tree is decorated with sculptures that take the form of baby angels made from wire and stretched tights. This chorus of fairies refers to figures from the classics such as Cupid, Eros, and Venus, which descending from above are multiplied over the tree. Lucas questions the erotic overtones often associated with the mythical figures through her decorations' matter-of-fact material quality and their function as ornaments."
