In 1999 maakte Hussein Chalayan de collectie 'Airmail Clothing', een serie kledingstukken van papier, waaronder de 'Airmail Dress':

"It's washable, it's wearable and one size fits all. It's a dress made out of paper that folds up to fit inside an airmail envelope. Simply open the flap, unfold it and put it on. Or write a message to a friend and put it in the post."
