"Since her debut in the early 1990s, she has developed her own poetic language. Paintings, sculptures, installations, films and performances - her work is not confined to any single medium or material. Using textiles such as wool, cotton, linen, loden, felt, silk and velvet, she sews together or embroiders soft, delicate fabrics. Hers is art that has no need of a paintbrush. Cute, loden-covered mushrooms sprout from gallery floors; Hermès, 2000, presents surreally swollen Prada and Hermès handbags fashioned from felt. Her huge wall hangings made from stitched-together handkerchiefs are reminiscnet of Sigmar Polke. Bonin puts material together. She makes things and people work together."
